Coffee Day!!!

Happened to read about the following few words about coffee. Felt so glad!! atleast there is someone who says coffee is good for health ;-) I am not a coffee addict as such, but I need to start my day with a nice cup of coffee. Those few sips in the morning make my entire day. "A cup of coffee won't do you any harm. And no, it won't cause heart disease and high blood pressure -if you don't OD on it that is. On the contrary, according to a study by the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program, California, drinking coffee limits the risk of liver cancer, diabetes and Parkinson's. And when it comes to burning the midnight oil, it sure works like a charm."

A Day to Forget

I hapened to read about Valentine's Day article in TIME magazine today. Here are some few words which really substantiated my previous post. The words go like this:
For those who feel well loved, everyday, of course is Valentine's. For the rest, no card can console. The minute if one feels like giving something is a duty, it has lost its purpose. Love sought is good, as Shakespeare observed, but given unsought is better
They have concluded that the best gift for the Valentine's Day is to ignore it altogether.Wonderful isn't it? ;-)

Googling Valentine's Day

Today I had a fun time at office with Google. As such not only today but every day Google is a fun, infact came to such a stage that can't imagine life without Google. These words have that magic spell from which no one can escape. The Valentine's Day logo of Google today was so sweet and I just loved it. Its a simple drawing of an older couple (he has a cane and she has white hair) holding hands and walking together. But this simple drawing conveyed the ultimate truth of life. Love is about knowing each other, understanding each other, respecting each other's feelings irrespective of any factor (age, time, place, situation). Its a divine blessing that no matter what, you will have him/her to hold your hand and come along with you......as the best is yet to come for which we are made.

Moments of happiness

Everyday after getting up from the bed I will cheer up myself saying that today is gonna be the most wonderful day in my life. For me even a small thing that brings a smile on my face is enough to make my day. Crazy girl ;-) but these crazy moments are the ones that make up one's life. Anyways coming to the today's wonderful moments......I got a THANK YOU mail from my Boeing PM today morning. The mail went like this:
Just a quick note to let you know that you brighten my day, every day.The "Happy New Year - 2008" email that you sent me is in a hard plasticholder, on top of the one that you sent to me in 2007...on my desk at work.

I read it, see it....it helps me to keep things in perspective and it reminds me of our friendship. You have a beautiful soul, thank you for sharing yourself with me.

Have a wonderful day!
Your Friend,
Kendra

I was so happy seeing her note. Its that innate feeling that there is someone who cares for my words is what brightened my day. Thanks for all those kind words Kendra. To add to this happiness, my potti brother has dedicated a small Kavitha for us (Visharada). This one made my moments of happiness even more memorable. Thanks a ton for everything bro :)

మనోవ్యధ

Something that I came across which really moved me.

Mayo - A saga of service in medical care

"The best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered"
- William J. mayo, M.D.
We spent our Christmas vacation this time with my sister-in-law and family living in Rochester, Minnesota. This amazing city is known for two things, one is Mayo Clinic and the other is IBM. As everyone knew, IBM is one of the techie giants in today's innovative world, so nothing more to say about this monster. What impressed me most was the Mayo!!! the service they are doing to the humanity is noteworthy. Especially when I came to know about the mission with which they started the Mayo Clinic and the way they transformed it to today's one of the best non-profit group in the world is an inspiring story. We visited all the different buildings of the Mayo complex in Rochester downtown. Every building and every corridor has got a story to tell. There are so many generous souls who donated their properties and estates to Mayo for the development of medical research. Kudos to all those souls who joined hands in making this great medical group, which is known to be one of the best. No patient will ever get that sick feeling when they are inside Mayo, its just because the Mayo cares for them and comforts them.
No wonder everyone of us today are able to combat any disease or any illness without any fear. As a token of respect I dedicate this small appreciation to all those great doctors who dedicated their lives in this noble profession and kudos to Mayo for their amazing service to humanity.

Suddenly my mood went off yesterday. Sometimes this patience of mine tends to hurt me in a bad way. Anyways...just want to cheer up myself from that mood :)

Oops!!! I got tagged

It seems I need to list out seven weird/random things about myself. hmm...wondering just seven!!!!I feel that I am so different with my weird thoughts and crazy things how can I wrap those so many into just seven ;-) Anyways thought of giving a try....

1.The first and the foremost one is..I am crazy about quotes, proverbs, blogs any good articles or mythological stories etc...whenever I find any new quote or a good piece of writing I will immediately put it in my magic box i.e.just a notepad which I maintain. Whenever I get bored or want to boost up myself I will open this khul ja sim sim ;-) and read them once. If I read any nice quote or a good article, I think about it the entire day and feel happy. This may sound crazy but I cherish these small pleasures in every way.

2.I love writing whatever I feel like.....anything in this world. I am having this writing habit right from my 10th standard. I am not a great poet or literary person. I will just put my feelings in some plain words to make myself happy. I used to maintain a personal diary before but later on stopped that habit........I scold myself for quitting that habit but I don't remember any proper reason why I stopped that, anyways everything happens for a reason. Now, I desperately want another reason to start it again.

3.I am very much passionate about technology and the science involved in all those fancy electronic gadgets. I have my wonderful brother explaining the science involved in them and in between asking some common sense questions and me giving some senseless answers and he posing a question in surprise saying "how can people be so dumb ;-)".I just love all those conversations.I always have an open mind to learn new things and explore them.

4.Though I am not a cleanliness guru or something but I do feel very happy when I complete my house cleaning, laundry and all that weekly cleaning stuff by Saturday of every week. sometimes I laugh at myself thinking about this.....I am so crazy :) But every week I try to get all my cleaning stuff done by Saturday to get this wonderful feeling...hmmmm....or a crazy one whatever. One more thing for which I feel happy about and pat myself on the back is, I am very much particular about keeping my books neatly. Those lovely school days, when I used to neatly cover all my notebooks and textbooks with nice covers, staple them properly and putting those names stickers....hmmm....somethings you just cannot forget.

5.I never used to have any interest in makeup or beauty tips or getting ready with all matching stuff right from my school days. Its not that I hate these stuff its just that I don't know anything about them. Infact I used to buy those colorful hair bands, bangles etc. just for the reason that they look so nice but never showed any interest in wearing. My friends used to scold me for lacking interest in all these being a girl but after marriage I think I am far better and learning some dressing sense. But even to this day I don't put any nail polish or lipsticks or any such fancy stuff. Anyways change is not merely essential to life....;-)

6.hmmm...I am already onto my 6th one...ok. I love singing and listening to music. It's not that I am always infront of a big Bose music system or with a fancy iPod, but music is one of the habits I relish in my leisure time. I like the classical ones and the ones with slow music. For me lyrics matter a lot in addition to just the music, doesn't matter it is hindi or telugu or english or tamil. In a sense I feel blessed for learning music during my school days, I never utilised that knowledge properly, but at least I had that satisfaction of learning it.A soft and soothing music is all what I need most of the time.

7.Coming to the final one...I am a bit absentminded which makes me even more weird.I always plan to do so many things but because of this absentmindedness I forget to do half of the them most of the time.I hate myself for being so weird in so many ways :-( but I console myself saying sometimes these imperfections do make me beautiful.

Yahooooooooo!!! I have successfully completed my seven most weird things without letting my secrets out ;-) Thanks to Vidhya for tagging me.I had fun writing something about myself and at the same time I really strained my gray matter to sum up the entire weird stuff into just seven.

Happy Children's Day

Today is celebrated as Children's Day in India in remembrance of Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India who has a fond affection and love for children. His leadership qualities and vision have paved the way for a modern India with a perfect blend of our cultural values, western thinking and technological progress. Celebrating his birthday as Children's Day is a fitting tribute to that great person and this day serves as a reminder to each and every one of us, to renew our commitment to the welfare of children and teach them to live by standards and principles and be an example.

Happy Diwali

"Wish you all a very Happy Deepavali."

This is one of the most loved festivals among Indians. Every house will be beautifully decorated with diyas and the real fun starts in the evening with crackers. Those childhood memories of burning crackers for hrs and hrs on diwali nights with my dear brother, parents and our neighbours (Raja, Mani, Seshu anna, Ravi anna, Sastry anna, Shravan, Bharathi, Shivaji, Venu, Vijay Kumar) and the fun we shared will be cherished for my lifetime. Once again on this diwali day I want to wish all of them a very "Happy Diwali". May this festival of lights sparkle their life with happiness and prosperity as always.

Oh My Friend...

Whenever I listen to the lyrics of "Oh my friend" song in "Happy Days" movie, a pleasant feeling touches my heart, particularly the following lines are awesome. Kudos to the lyricist :) What else in life can be a greater gift other than having such a wonderful friend with whom you can be just urself and feel like stopping the ticking of time when you are with that friend to have that fun and happiness forever sharing every single thing that happened in each other's life.

Happy Days

Today we went to a telugu movie called "Happy Days". This director is one of my favourite directors as I liked his previous two movies a lot. This new movie is about the college life in particular about the 4yrs of engineering life and how important it is in each and every engineering student's life as it holds so many sweet memories, shapes the attitude and mould him/her as a complete person. This movie has flashed all those wonderful college day memories infact happy days infront of us for about 3hrs, starting from the first yr ragging to the final yr farewell party. It really opened the stopper of that memories bottle which I treasure for a lifetime to feel that fragrance and live the college life one more time. Ragging sessions with seniors, fresher's parties, long night chats with friends, night out sessions before exams, love story gossips in the campus, valentine day nights, campus placement celebrations with friends and most importantly those friends with whom we have shared everything for 4 long yrs and I am sure everyone of us will cherish those friendships till this very day. Thanks to the director Sekhar Kammula who made us to live our college life one more time through his movie. In the movie there was one stanza of Rudyard Kipling's poem which was quite inspiring.
"If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!"

A home away from home

This weekend we had a great time at the Indian festival in Columbus. Seeing the ambience there, we smelt the fragrance of India. All Desi shops, typical Desi food like dosas, vadai, idli hmmm.........mouth watering cholebaturas etc. There were so many cultural events performed by kids of different ages. Seeing the auditorium there reminded me of my "audi" (i.e. auditorium) in RECW. All those musical evenings, Saturday night movie shows, guest lectures, Spring Spree (i.e. a cultural fest in RECW) nights, Technomatrix (a tech fest in RECW) events in audi flased through my mind."If only memories could be bottled like perfumes and I could remove the stopper to smell them whenever I want to..". Anyways nothing can be more sweeter than these college life experiences with close friends. Seeing all the events in the festival I felt like wherever we go we will make our presence felt with our values and traditions. This feeling became even more stronger when I saw someone in the audience, a foreigner holding our national flag and clapping to those kids who are performing on the stage. We came home with a great feeling that we do make the difference being away from home.

A feeling of being cared

A few days back one of my colleagues got operated for brain tumour It was really a sudden surprise for everyone of us in the project as he never complained anything about his health. The next day another colleague of mine got a "Get Well Soon" card and passed on that to every one's cube to wish good luck to him to recover soon. That card travelled through my cube also for my wishes.I have this inquisitiveness of reading quotes, proverbs,or any kind of writings from my childhood except the personal diaries or anything personal of course .I don't know whether it is good or bad but I can't help other than reading when there are some words in front of me :). Now coming to the card, after seeing all my colleagues wishes I was so touched with her thoughtful act of getting a card. Everyone conveyed their wishes in simple words.........no Shakespeare sonnets or William Wordsworth's poems just few words saying that they will keep him in their prayers to recover soon.Sometimes it is so nice to express our thoughts and feelings openly. Even I do care for him and want him to recover soon but after seeing her card, for few moments I felt like why didn't I get such thought.Sometimes these kind of small things go a long way. Anyways I signed the card and gave it back to her appreciating her thoughtfulness. I am sure after seeing all our wishes my colleague will definitely feel good, May be it is a simple piece of paper with some letters by looks but it is a great feeling infact, "A feeling of being cared".

Happy Vinayaka Chavithi

"Wish you all a very happy Vinayaka Chavithi."
This is my most favourite festival of all.My wonderful brother Kiran made this one even more memorable by making a small ganesha with clay. Thanks a lot Kiran. Decorating the bojja ganapayya with palavelli, fruits, flowers....hmmm it used to be so much of fun from my childhood. My mom used to be busy in preparing Vundrallu and all special dishes for naivedhyam, I used to spend 2 to 3hrs in decorating our Vinayaka. There used to be some sense of decipline in life before....we used to get up early in the mornings, infact even early during Vinayaka Chavithi day with full of enthusiasm to wear new clothes and to go for shopping to get a small idol of ganesh, flowers, patri and fruits for pooja.Today when I was decorating GOD and preparing dishes for lunch it reminded me of my mom so much, how she was able to manage everything so perfectly.........why can't my dishes be so delicious as hers.Missing home a lot for everything :-(
