Happy Days

Today we went to a telugu movie called "Happy Days". This director is one of my favourite directors as I liked his previous two movies a lot. This new movie is about the college life in particular about the 4yrs of engineering life and how important it is in each and every engineering student's life as it holds so many sweet memories, shapes the attitude and mould him/her as a complete person. This movie has flashed all those wonderful college day memories infact happy days infront of us for about 3hrs, starting from the first yr ragging to the final yr farewell party. It really opened the stopper of that memories bottle which I treasure for a lifetime to feel that fragrance and live the college life one more time. Ragging sessions with seniors, fresher's parties, long night chats with friends, night out sessions before exams, love story gossips in the campus, valentine day nights, campus placement celebrations with friends and most importantly those friends with whom we have shared everything for 4 long yrs and I am sure everyone of us will cherish those friendships till this very day. Thanks to the director Sekhar Kammula who made us to live our college life one more time through his movie. In the movie there was one stanza of Rudyard Kipling's poem which was quite inspiring.
"If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!"

A home away from home

This weekend we had a great time at the Indian festival in Columbus. Seeing the ambience there, we smelt the fragrance of India. All Desi shops, typical Desi food like dosas, vadai, idli hmmm.........mouth watering cholebaturas etc. There were so many cultural events performed by kids of different ages. Seeing the auditorium there reminded me of my "audi" (i.e. auditorium) in RECW. All those musical evenings, Saturday night movie shows, guest lectures, Spring Spree (i.e. a cultural fest in RECW) nights, Technomatrix (a tech fest in RECW) events in audi flased through my mind."If only memories could be bottled like perfumes and I could remove the stopper to smell them whenever I want to..". Anyways nothing can be more sweeter than these college life experiences with close friends. Seeing all the events in the festival I felt like wherever we go we will make our presence felt with our values and traditions. This feeling became even more stronger when I saw someone in the audience, a foreigner holding our national flag and clapping to those kids who are performing on the stage. We came home with a great feeling that we do make the difference being away from home.

A feeling of being cared

A few days back one of my colleagues got operated for brain tumour It was really a sudden surprise for everyone of us in the project as he never complained anything about his health. The next day another colleague of mine got a "Get Well Soon" card and passed on that to every one's cube to wish good luck to him to recover soon. That card travelled through my cube also for my wishes.I have this inquisitiveness of reading quotes, proverbs,or any kind of writings from my childhood except the personal diaries or anything personal of course .I don't know whether it is good or bad but I can't help other than reading when there are some words in front of me :). Now coming to the card, after seeing all my colleagues wishes I was so touched with her thoughtful act of getting a card. Everyone conveyed their wishes in simple words.........no Shakespeare sonnets or William Wordsworth's poems just few words saying that they will keep him in their prayers to recover soon.Sometimes it is so nice to express our thoughts and feelings openly. Even I do care for him and want him to recover soon but after seeing her card, for few moments I felt like why didn't I get such thought.Sometimes these kind of small things go a long way. Anyways I signed the card and gave it back to her appreciating her thoughtfulness. I am sure after seeing all our wishes my colleague will definitely feel good, May be it is a simple piece of paper with some letters by looks but it is a great feeling infact, "A feeling of being cared".

Happy Vinayaka Chavithi

"Wish you all a very happy Vinayaka Chavithi."
This is my most favourite festival of all.My wonderful brother Kiran made this one even more memorable by making a small ganesha with clay. Thanks a lot Kiran. Decorating the bojja ganapayya with palavelli, fruits, flowers....hmmm it used to be so much of fun from my childhood. My mom used to be busy in preparing Vundrallu and all special dishes for naivedhyam, I used to spend 2 to 3hrs in decorating our Vinayaka. There used to be some sense of decipline in life before....we used to get up early in the mornings, infact even early during Vinayaka Chavithi day with full of enthusiasm to wear new clothes and to go for shopping to get a small idol of ganesh, flowers, patri and fruits for pooja.Today when I was decorating GOD and preparing dishes for lunch it reminded me of my mom so much, how she was able to manage everything so perfectly.........why can't my dishes be so delicious as hers.Missing home a lot for everything :-(
